Mine

bobbing on a splintered plank
i lay my face alongside his
bruised, swollen
and so utterly fragile, like filtered light on the sea floor
but he is achingly beautiful
beautiful to me because now he is mine.

they told me i could not take him
i am mer
he is human
i am the sea
and he is born from the land
but nothing is so simple.

i took him to his second birth
and now he will be part of the sea forever.

  1. Oh, I like this. "Like filtered light on the sea floor," that is the way I want to go.

  4. I think this is lovely =) I think, though, that it would add some time to the poem if you split it up into a few more stanzas. I felt it a bit rushed. Unless that is how it is supposed to be?

I loooved the imagery, and how from the beginning you think it's just a "realistic" sort of poetry and then in comes the second stanza, and you see there's so much more to it... Lovely work.
